Industries

Honey supply by buyer industry

Wholesale honey for bakeries and beverage manufacturers, plus hospitality, nutraceutical, and retail packing paths. Each segment has its own formats and documents.

Five buyer paths

How each segment buys honey

Each section covers formats, specifications, and what to send with an enquiry — not a generic industry checklist.

Manufacturing

Food and beverage manufacturers

Plants that dose honey into sauces, drinks, confectionery, breakfast lines, and other formulated foods. Honey is an ingredient with a written band — not a retail jar story.

Formats
Most lines take a 300 kg epoxy-coated MS drum or 50 kg / 65 kg cans. Food-grade buckets suit pilot runs and smaller batch sizes. Published charts sit on the packaging page.
Specifications
Multiflora is the usual industrial starting point. Mustard when a sharper note is wanted; a darker forest-style honey when colour matters in the finished product. Moisture, colour or sample band, and any extra test named in your PO travel with the lot.
Purchasing
Send application (sauce, beverage, confectionery, and so on), variety, estimated annual or shipment quantity, destination, and preferred pack. Ask for a sample when the line will lock colour or flavour. Sales replies with availability, price basis, and lead time.

Bakery

Bakeries

Industrial and wholesale bakeries that use honey in dough, glaze, fillings, and breakfast bakery. Consistency between deliveries matters as much as the first sample.

Formats
Drums and cans for high-volume plants; buckets when a bakery runs smaller batches or several SKUs. Retail jars are for finished branded lines, not for back-of-house dosing.
Specifications
Multiflora covers most bakery volume. Named florals are only useful when the product or label calls for them. Crystallisation and colour should be agreed from a sample if the process is sensitive to either.
Purchasing
Name the use (dough, glaze, filling), pack size your plant can receive, and whether you need a repeating monthly call-off or a one-off lot. Share any moisture or colour limit your QA already uses.

Wellness brands

Nutraceutical companies

Brands that buy honey or bee pollen as ingredients for their own finished products. Balaji supplies the material and the lot papers named in the order — not consumer health claims.

Formats
Bulk drums or cans for honey used as an ingredient; smaller packs when the brand blends in lower volume. Bee pollen is quoted and packed separately from honey.
Specifications
Identity of the ingredient, the tests written into the purchase order, and optional screens such as NMR when your customer or market asks for an adulteration check. Organic or True Source only when that line and certificate are in scope.
Purchasing
State honey versus bee pollen, destination market, required documents, and pack. Your regulatory team decides what the finished consumer product may say — certificates describe the lot, not marketing claims.

Hospitality

Hospitality and food service

Hotels, restaurants, and caterers that use honey for breakfast service, kitchen prep, and in-room or buffet packs. The buyer path is kitchen consistency, not industrial drum dosing.

Formats
Food-grade buckets from 1.5 kg upward for kitchens and institutions. Glass or PET jars for breakfast sets and branded in-room programs — including private label when the brand is yours.
Specifications
Multiflora is the everyday kitchen honey. A named floral only when the menu or brand calls for it. Seasonal varieties such as litchi will not match every month; sales will say so before you lock a repeating order.
Purchasing
Share outlet count or group size, current pack, and whether supply is domestic India wholesale or export. Chains that need a matching jar and closure should treat that as a private-label discussion.

Retail packing

Retail packers and private-label houses

Repackers and brand owners who fill consumer jars from bulk honey, or who ask Balaji to fill glass and PET under their artwork. The commercial question is pack and label, then the honey lot behind it.

Formats
Inbound bulk in drums or cans for your own filling line, or finished glass and PET jars filled at Balaji under private label. Packaging charts list published jar and industrial sizes.
Specifications
Honey variety and colour band that match the front-of-pack story. Organic, True Source, or NMR only when those credentials are ordered with the lot. Label claims must match the certificate that ships.
Purchasing
Say whether you need bulk for your plant or filled jars under your brand, destination market, estimated quantity, and any credential the label will show. Artwork and jar moulds are confirmed on the private-label quotation.
